Bafana friendly used to rally supporters

SABC Limpopo will use tonight's international friendly between Bafana Bafana and Chile to mobilise support for the Confederations Cup and 2010 World Cup hosts.

SABC Limpopo will use tonight's international friendly between Bafana Bafana and Chile to mobilise support for the Confederations Cup and 2010 World Cup hosts.

Victor Ravhuanzho, SABC regional manager, said their staff and other prominent soccer stakeholders will be part of the campaign starting this morning.

Popular soccer fans like Gladys Bailey, Freddy "Saddam" Maake, Johannes "Mzion" Mofokeng and Robert "Mzekezeke" Nkosi are already in Polokwane.

Maake and company were featured on various SABC radio stations to give away tickets to lucky listeners on Monday night. They urged people to attend the game.

Ravhuanzho, a former South African Football Association official in Limpopo, said they will start the campaign in the Polokwane city centre.

"We urge South Africans to rally behind Bafana Bafana, that is why we are going all out to mobilise support for our beloved team ahead of the Confederations Cup," said Ravhuanzho.

From the Polokwane central business district, the campaign will proceed to Savannah mall in Flora Park, Mankweng, Nobody and Seshego.

Nakedi Lekota, Safa Limpopo president, said: "The initiative by the SABC is highly appreciated, we must all support Bafana."
