Enormously talented fighter Bongani "Cyclones" Mwelase has joined Golden Gloves Promotions.

The 2006 Commonwealth Games gold medallist confirmed on Sunday that he had signing with promoter Rodney Berman last Friday.

"I must add that promoter Blacky Seoe is still very much the part of my team," said Mwelase whose contract with Seoe ends later this year.

Berman insisted that Seoe won't be left out.

"Blacky will stay in the financial picture in terms of a joint-venture. I believe that Blacky has done a marvellous job with this kid," said Berman.

Mwelase, who is trained by Johnny du Plooy, boasts 12 knockouts from 13 wins. Berman said the former SA, WBC International and WBF undefeated welterweight champion will be in action against a yet to be confirmed opponent in the US in April for the vacant IBO welterweight title.

Seoe, a successful businessman from Free State who trades under Robs Promotions, confirmed agreeing in principle with Berman to jointly promote Mwelase.

"I will not stand in Mwelase's way to the top. I am also keen to work with any promoter," he said.
