The Greater Tzaneen municipality in Limpopo has finally parted ways with its former spin doctor Solly Mokhashoa.
He was one of the two managers who were suspended last year on charges of misconduct.
The latest developments were announced by municipal manager Mabakane Mangena during a media conference in Tzaneen yesterday.
Mangena said this will end months of "a stressful legal battle" between the municipality and Mokhashoa.
He said a settlement followed discussions with Mokhashoa's legal representatives which were held secretly in the past weeks.
Mangena said they had reached an amicable settlement with Mokhashoa but could not disclose the amount involved because of fear of violating a confidentiality clause.
"Sorry. I cannot disclose the contents of the settlement and the figures involved.
"Mokhashoa is entitled to his own privacy and there was also a third party involved in this matter," said Mangena, referring to Mokhashoa's lawyer.
Mokhashoa, the former communications and marketing manager at the municipality, was suspended last year together with the council's community services manager, Vincent Maake.
They had allegedly mobilised municipal employees not to support the council's cost recovery plan and also allegedly encouraged community members not to pay for municipal services.
They were also accused of mobilising councillors during office hours to support certain political agendas, therefore, causing division within the ANC at the municipality.
Mokhashoa was further accused of violating the conditions of his suspension by speaking to the media.
The municipality had early last month also reached a settlement with Maake, which was also approved by the council.
