Tukkies play their cards

Tukkies have made four changes for the match against NMMU today in Port Elizabeth.

The biggest surprise being Ntokozo Mashele replacing Currie Cup flanker Gert Lubbe.

Lubbe, who played for the Valke last year, was a thorn in the flesh of the NWU Pukke in Potchefstroom on Monday night and contributed generously to the victory. One can speculate that external factors influenced his omission.

Other changes include backs Aaron Denenga replacing Elwyn Fransman and Christiaan van den Berg taking over at scrumhalf position from Ignick Windvogel.

Van den Berg was one of the reliable players in the Lions junior ranks and has represented the union at under 19 and under 21 levels.

His tactical kicking is one of his strong points and this is where he offers an extra dimension to the game.

Between him and the dangerous Jean-Claude Roos at flyhalf, NMMU will have to be sharp.

Especially with the centre combination of Franco Booysen and Johan Jackson that had proved too much for the Pukke to handle being in action again. - Sapa
