Tso lifts boring game to watchable

Mamelodi Sundowns scored a solitary goal courtesy of Benedict "Tso" Vilakazi to beat Laminville Golden Arrows 1-0 at Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday to occupy the Absa Premiership's second spot.

Downs started the game poorly, as Abafana Bes'thende cut through their defence with ease early on.

Had it not been for Calvin Marlin in the Sundowns goal the Tshwane giants would have gone into the half time break a couple of goals down.

Arrows first chance came in the fourth minute when Francis Kombe let fly with his right boot from just inside the 18-yard box. Marlin plucked his shot out of the air diving to his right to deny the striker.

Marlin was called into action again eight minutes later when he pulled off a blinder to deny Philani Shange.

A beautiful one two between Richard Henyekane and Shange had opened Downs up.

Yet Arrows went into the break a goal down as Vilakazi grabbed the opening goal against the run of play two minutes before half time .

The second half was more boring than the first but Downs' defence seemed to have regrouped and Arrows struggled to create any decent chances resorting to shooting from range.

Vilakazi remained a threat as the Arrows' defence found him difficult to deal with.
