Highly-rated political satirist Pieter-Dirk Uys has come up with a political satire that goes into the bones and heart of the South African body politic.
Called Election and Erections, this latest satire from the comedian popularly known as Evita, caricatures anybody - from newly-appointed US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Jacob Zuma to Grace Mugabe.
"This is about two things that have always been denied me during apartheid and that is democracy and sex, and both of these are dangerous," Uys said.
"Politics is dangerous because there are some parties in South Africa that think that they are entitled to political power for ever and sex . because of Aids.
"This play, which encouraged everybody to register this past weekend in order to vote, is trying to say that because of political intolerance, it has now become necessary to even lie and say I will vote for this party. But when you are alone in that box, you vote for your political party. It should not be necessary to lie about which party you support in a democracy."
Uys's character Evita, a conservative Afrikaans woman politician, has gained iconic status both on stage and politics over the years.
