More charges for arrested teacher

It never rains but pours for teacher-cum-traditional leader Freddie Shikundu who has been in custody since October 3 last year for armed robbery.

Shikundu, 39, was last week slapped with additional charges of armed robbery when he appeared before Magistrate Daniel Maluleke at the Malamulele magistrate's court.

Maluleke postponed Shikundu's case to a regional court on February 10, but warned that more counts were to be added to the charge sheet.

Shikundu and two others, Oupa Monareng and Doctor Macevele, were arrested on October 3 last year after being linked to an attempted robbery case at Nkavele bottle store.

They also face a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Shikundu has not been to Manghena Primary School since he was arrested, and bail was refused because at the time of his arrest he was out on bail facing a separate case of more than 20 fraud counts relating to tribal funds.
