Viewers of one of South Africa's longest running soapies, Generations, were on Wednesday night taken on a nostalgic trip back to the first episode.

The pioneering popular local soapie first went on air in February 1994.

Long-time viewers reconnected with great actors such as David Phetoe, who is still very much alive, and Lillian Dube, who looked young and vibrant then. She is just as full of spunk. Can somebody tell me what happened to the pretty Natie Rula?

Remember the double-barrel surnames of Tina Jaxa-Billie and Connie Masilo-Matsunyane?

Tina Jaxa, you rock girl. Not only do you look great, boast truckloads of confidence and an amazing actress. Pity they let you go.

Just looking at Connie Ferguson, who with Sophie Ndaba are the two remaining original cast members, was revealing. ferguson reminded me of Michael Jackson, especially her nose - then and now. What a difference. Her doctor did her well.

I suspect some dental surgeons might have also landed their skills to give her the perfect look.

And my my, what a youthful looking Sello Maake kaNcube, who played Archie Moroka. I swear he has matured gracefully.

Another fascinating character was that of Vinolia Mashego. She also did well as Hilda Letlalo. She looks hot and can still do well as an actress.

Sadly, we saw bra Fats Dibeco and Daphney Hlomuka who have since died. What happened to Arthur Molepo, the irresponsible Busang Moroka and Mxolisi Hulana? Rebecca Malope looked young and vulnerable, delivering an emotive rendition.

There is no denying that the soapie has grown by leaps and bounds, boasts the most glamorous cast, besides being the longest running locally produced soapie.

The signature songLedimo, composed by one of the most celebrated musicians, Jonas Gwangwa, sounds fantastic.

A follow-up treat in the form of an hour-long special episode will be broadcast on Thursday, February 26, at 8.30pm.
