SABC1's third South African Film and Television Awards' glittering ceremony will attract natty dressers, classy personalities and long-suffering directors ready to keel down and faint from the long hours.

The awards take place at the State Theatre in Pretoria tomorrow night, with live transmission at 8pm on SABC2.

Designers of art works will smile like indulgent parents when they watch the personalities take their walk of fame on the highly sought after red carpet. Saftas aim to honour, celebrate and promote the creativity, quality and excellence of South African film and television. They unleash talent and productions, and encourage entrepreneurship.

Public voting will determine the winners in the soapie category with the addition of character awards for Best Hero or Heroine, Best comic, Best Dressed and Best Villain. At this year's Saftas additional awards for Best Newcomer and the Lifetime Achievement Award have been introduced.
