An investigation conducted by Honeydew police proved that Mulalo Sivhidzho lied about calling the police station or reporting that her husband was in danger.

This was evidence given in the Johannesburg high court by Superintendent Irene Sekwakwa, of Honeydew police station. On December 20 2006, almost two weeks after her husband's death, she wrote a letter to the station complaining about how police failed to assist her on the night of the murder.

"She told me that she phoned 10111 and was referred to my police station. She said she phoned the station and spoke to a lady who said she could not help her because she did not know the address or street name of where her husband was. However, after investigating the complaint, I found that she never spoke to anyone at Honeydew police station," said Sekwakwa.

The trial had to be put on hold after Sivhidzho's defence counsel, Advocate Anneline Roestorf, requested time to consult with her.

Sivhidzho and co-accused Ntabudzeni Matsenene and Arnold Sello are accused of conspiring to kill Avhatakali Netshisaulu, who was hijacked and burnt in the boot of his car.
