Three members of a community policing forum in Limpopo have been suspended for alleged involvement in criminal activities.

Two of the members are from Dennilton and the other one is from Alldays. The two areas are regarded as falling under Limpopo for purposes of the CPF.

The Dennilton members are alleged to have taken part in an assault that led to the death of a suspected stock thieve at the weekend. The member from Alldays was allegedly involved in stock theft.

Villagers in Dennilton allegedly suspected a man of stealing sheep atKgobokwane village.

They were allegedly joined by the CPF members in assaulting the suspect, who died later.

The Alldays CPF member was allegedly found driving a bakkie loaded with suspected stolen livestock.

All the men are said to be active and respected members of the CPF.

According to CPF provincial chairman Moshele Maserumule, the three have been suspended "for bringing the name of the forum into disrepute by engaging in criminal activities while it is our responsibility to fight crime".

Police spokesman Superintendent Ronel Otto yesterday identified the Dennilton CPF members as Lazarus Sebothoma, 51, and Motsoaledi Matsepe who is in his late twenties.

The identity of the CPF member from Alldays had not been released by late yesterday.
