Devious Dineo someone soapie fans love to hate

If there is anyone whose eyes soapie lovers would like to scratch out, it's those of Dineo Mashaba, played by Katlego Danke, in Generations.

Looking like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth, Dineo, who up to now has played the role of a trophy wife who does not want to rock the boat, has emerged from her catatonic state to be the woman every television viewer loves to hate.

After playing the dutiful wife following her husband Kenneth Mashaba's (Seputla Sebogodi) stroke, she welcomes her stepson and former lover Thomas Mashaba into the house. He does not waste time unearthing the latent villain in her.

It didn't take long for her to start conspiring with her ex to take over Mashaba media from the qualified and efficient Ntombi Khumalo (Sonia Mbele). After successfully getting rid of Ntombi, Dineo gets rid of Thomas. Alone, she realises that running the Mashaba empire is not that easy.

Aside from her office blues, she has to put up with Paul Mashaba (Siyabonga Thwala) and Ace (Peter Moruakgomo), who decide to give her husband home care. She feels alone, especially after her accomplice Mazi Mashaba (Rantebeng Makapane) leaves when he realises that she is using him.

The dumb, yet deadly blonde Dineo goes through a comedy of errors that embarrass her at every turn. She finally stumbles on the Ezweni shares of Grace Mashaba (Genevieve Howard).

Dineo travels to Canada to meet Grace and triumphantly announces at an Ezweni board meeting that she is the mystery shareholder that they have all been wondering about. In her naivete, she thinks that her new-found power will solidify her power base.

Now in cahoots with Mazi, Kenneth's irresponsible son, one wonders how long this deceitful union will last? Besides, will they cross the line and sleep with each other?

A disgusted Kenneth, trapped in the ravages of his illness, cannot wait to recover and set the upstart Dineo straight. Imagine if he remembers who shot him and if Ace tells him that Dineo ordered the hit?

Somehow, I don't see Kenneth chasing his trophy wife away. I think he will keep her and torture her like a cat that plays games with its mouse victim.
