Embassies spread word

The South African government is using its embassies to promote this year's Confederations Cup and the 2010 World Cup.

The South African government is using its embassies to promote this year's Confederations Cup and the 2010 World Cup.

Dan Moyo, the government's World Cup head, says they will be meeting the heads of mission in foreign countries for an update on South Africa's readiness.

"We are working closely with the Department of Foreign Affairs on this project and their director-general Ayanda Ntsaluba and his team have been incredible."

The process started last week in London where Moyo and Derek Carstens, the Local Organising Committee's marketing chief, met the heads of mission in Europe.

"We had all the 18 ambassadors and high commissioners attending the meeting in London, which went very well," said Moyo. "We have decided to use our foreign missions to help us preach the gospel about South Africa's readiness for the Confederations Cup and World Cup."
