South Africa's Rik de Voest is having a great run so far in the South African Tennis Open.

De Voest followed up his opening singles win on Monday with an emphatic doubles win with partner Ashley Fisher at Montecasino, Johannesburg.

The two knocked out Switzerland's Yves Allegro and Romanian Horia Tecau 6-2 6-2 to progress to the next round of this tournament.

The match had earlier been disrupted by rain with the first set already wrapped up at 6-2, and after a delay of more than two hours, De Voest and his Australian partner effortlessly went on to win the second set.

Allegro, a doubles expert Allegro who partners world No 2 Roger Federer, showed none of the expertise or determination one would have expected from a seasoned campaigner, as he and Tecau easily folded under their opponents' continued onslaught.

Addressing the media after the match, De Voest said he hoped to keep playing as well as he had done in the past two days, in both his single and doubles matches. He said he had teamed up with Fisher before, and that showed.

"I am very happy with the way things have gone in my last two matches, but I will have to take each match as it comes. If I play as well as I have in the past two days it will be great," De Voest said.

He is set to meet the winner between Frederico Gil and Daniel Koellerer, a match that was still on late yesterday.
