A Limpopo businessman and provincial president of the National African Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industryis lucky to be alive after robbers shot him in the thigh during an attempted robbery at his home in Namakgale, Phalaborwa.

Isaac Masekwamengwas with his wife and son at the weekend when the men pointed a firearm at him and demanded money.

He told Sowetan yesterday he pleaded with the men not to do anything to harm him and promised to give them what they wanted.

But one of them pulled the trigger and shot Masekwameng in the left thigh. He is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

Police said they were still hunting for the suspects.
