This victory brings his career earnings to more than R7,5m - with 14 victories from 28 outings.

Jockey Bernard Fayd'Herbe was both breathless and speechless after the race.

He has partnered Pocket Power in all his recent victories and admitted to feeling the pressure when Dancer's Daughter, that had dead-heated with him in last year's Vodacom Durban July, looked to have the measure of him. But the great horse surged forward to take his third J&B Met by a neck from Dancer's Daughter.

Pocket Power's full sister, River Jetez, was up there with them and took third place ahead of Kapil that finished 3-1/2 length off the winner.

Mike Bass, Pocket Power's trainer, acknowledged this was the best horse he had ever trained and paid tribute to his racing team and Bernard Fayd'Herbe's superb handling of the horse. - Sapa
