The first democratic elections of 1994 presented us with an opportunity and a huge responsibility to embark on radical transformation to reverse the imbalances of the past. In the process of developing laws and policies to redress these imbalances, opportunistic politicians began to appear.
Opportunistic political parties suddenly mushroomed like rash on a baby's skin.
How on earth do you go out and rent vulnerable crowds to election rallies and claim that your party can do better than the ANC? That is hogwash and political dishonesty. In its 15 years in power, the ANC has done miracles.
For the first time in Africa's history, South Africa - an African country led by the ANC - will host the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
Our constitution gives ordinary citizens the right to be critical of the government, whether that criticism is right or wrong. This is a miracle that never happened pre-1994.
No party can run this country without the ANC. Let us all ensure that we register on February 7 and 8 and vote in the ANC to continue advancing the agenda for total liberation.
