Misfiring and without their trusted forward Mabhuti Khenyeza who is suspended, Ajax Cape Town have been boosted by some good news ahead of Kaizer Chiefs' visit tomorrow.
Their recent goal drought could be a thing of the past after Ajax reunited with striker Stanton Lewis yesterday.
Lewis returned to the Mother City on a one-and-a-half-season contract from the Urban Warriors' mother club, Ajax Amsterdam, where he spent two-and-a-half seasons playing for the Dutch side's reserve team.
Amakhosi are on a high going into this crunch clash after winning their three opening matches this year, while Ajax have lost their past two matches.
They were without their Bafana Bafana striker Khenyeza when they lost 1-0 to Moroka Swallows at home last Saturday.
Khenyeza got a red card in their 2-0 pasting by Maritzburg United a fortnight ago.
But Ajax have young players who are mature. They will be ready for whatever Muhsin Ertugral's spirited side will throw at them.
Their fighting spirits did not only win them the prized Telkom Knockout in December, but has also made them strong candidates for the championship.
But their championship ambitions suffered a knock following the two setbacks, and they are well aware that another defeat tomorrow could be fatal to their quest to wear the crown.
Ajax will need to be in an uncompromising mood to stop the Chiefs juggernaut. They face an Amakhosi side that boasts the gifted Abia Nale, who should be a menace for Eduardo Ferreira and company at the back.

The want-away youngster has been demoted to their reserve team as part of his punishment for absconding from the club three weeks ago. Mfundo Shumana is in rehabilitation after a knee operation and he is highly unlikely to play in the second round.
The visitors have been reinforced by the return from suspension of Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Mokete Tsotetsi, but Thabang Rooi and Onismor Bhasera are doubtful starters.
