Premier Soccer League chairman Irvin Khoza believes Bafana Bafana's recent success has created a buzz for the Confederations Cup in June.
Khoza also sees Bafana's triumph as a sign of the psychological adjustment the players have made ahead of the tournament after Joel Santana's charges failed to qualify for the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.
"It is crucial for Bafana to get positive results in the matches building up to the Confederations Cup as this will strongly build their confidence for the tournament," said Khoza yesterday.
He said the players have realised that the event was a serious project and not just another tournament.
Khoza, who is also the 2010 Local Organising Committee's chairman, said the positive results Bafana have been getting recently will also lure more supporters to their matches.
"Obviously, the supporters will want to come in big numbers to celebrate with the players after their matches. This will inspire the players more," he said.
Khoza was reacting after Bafana Bafana stretched their unbeaten run to five matches with a 1-0 victory over Zambia in Atteridgeville on Tuesday, courtesy of Teko Modise's 54th-minute goal.
Meanwhile, Khoza is also happy with their plans ahead of the Confederations Cup.
He said they had completed the operational plans for the tournament.
Plans for the 2010 World Cup will also be reviewed, according to Khoza.
Khoza also revealed that venue offices in all hosting cities for the June spectacular have been established.
"We have already employed people for critical posts in the venue offices and there will be interviews for other positions.
"The renovations of pitches for the tournament and training sites have been completed.
"It is our vision to stage the best World Cup ever in 2010. But this vision does not only belong to the LOC, Fifa or the government, but to all South Africans and Africans," he told Sowetan.
