United Democratic Movement leader Bantu Holomisa, who plays off a 10 handicap, will be among several personalities who are expected to compete in a fundraising golf day in Eastern Cape on Saturday.

The one-day event will be held at the Uitenhage Golf Course and is expected to draw a full field. Tee-off is at 7am.

It is hosted by businessman Butityi Konki, boss of BK Investment Holding, and will be played over 18 holes.

"The objective of the contest is to raise funds that will be used to stage the golf tournament at the schools level in April," explained Konki, who will be celebrating his 50th birthday on the same day.

Amateur golfers from previously disadvantaged areas will get an opportunity to develop their skills in a competitive event.

Other celebrities expected to take part include former Springbok flyhalf Naas Botha and erstwhile Springbok manager Zola Yeye.

The entry fee will be R150 a player and companies will be sponsoring some holes.
