Loots Bosman, one of the Diamond Eagles' most explosive batsmen, will be out of action for the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury on Friday in Bloemfontein.

Coach Korrie van Zyl confirmed yesterday that Bosman could not carry on with their clash against the Dolphins in the Standard Bank Pro20 at home after the injury to his knee.

The injury to the aggressive opening batsman had a negative effect on his teammates and they went down to the visitors by 68 runs.

"The influential Bosman will be out of action for the entire season and is recovering at home at the moment," said Van Zyl. "It is a huge blow to lose somebody of his calibre who could put the opposition batsmen under pressure."

The Eagles regrouped on Sunday and went on to beat the Highveld Lions by eight runs in an away game at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

Bosman's replacement is expected to be announced today when Van Zyl finalises the team to play the Cape Cobras away at De Beers Diamond Oval in Kimberley tomorrow at 6pm.

In other weekend results, the Cape Cobras defeated the Warriors by four runs in Newlands while the game between the Titans and Dolphins was washed out.
