A five-month-old baby boy was allegedly stolen at Ladysmith in KwaZulu-Natal after his mother left him with a strange woman when she went to the toilet in Lylle Street Taxi Rank.

Police spokesman Captain Charmain Struwig said the teenage mother left the baby with the woman, who had allegedly given her wrong directions to the toilet. "The child's mother realised that the directions were false and rushed back to where she had left her child. But she found that the woman had disappeared."
