A Limpopo woman who was allegedly tied to a wall with ropes, assaulted and raped repeatedly by 10 men throughout the night has been admitted to hospital with serious wounds to her genitals.

The 22-year-old woman will also undergo counselling after showing signs of depression.

The incident happened last week Tuesday at about 1pm at Sefole village near Steilloop.

The woman was on her way home from the local clinic when she hitched a lift to her village in Gilead.

It is alleged that a young man proposed love to her but she refused and he dragged her into bushes near the road and then whistled.

"He was suddenly joined by a group of nine other men who dragged her deep into the bushes where they assaulted her," Limpopo police spokesman Superintendent Mohale Ramatseba said yesterday.

The thugs took her to a house in the village where they tied her up with ropes and repeatedly raped her.

Her abductors released her the next morning and she laid a charge.

Seven suspects were arrested and appeared in the Mokopane magistrate's court yesterday. They were denied bail .

They are Jonas Mahlare, 20, Nibro Makhathi, 23, France Tlou, 21, Benson Nkherwane, 26, Thomas Ramaru, 24, Joel Mahlare, 26, Thomas Chokoe, 28.

They will appear again next Wednesday.
