Troublemaker Blade now guns for Motlanthe

Disturbing media reports that the SACP's Blade Nzimande is now focusing his attention on discrediting President Kgalema Motlanthe again raises the question about the man's agenda. A man who only joined the ANC and SACP in the early 1990s.

Disturbing media reports that the SACP's Blade Nzimande is now focusing his attention on discrediting President Kgalema Motlanthe again raises the question about the man's agenda. A man who only joined the ANC and SACP in the early 1990s.

Nzimande has been the source of many conflicts in the ANC. At the ANC conference in 1992 at the University of Durban-Westville, only he opposed the gradual lifting of sanctions proposed by Oliver Tambo and Nelson Mandela.

His views were defeated after Thabo Mbeki made an input supporting Tambo and Mandela. Gear was discussed at the Mafikeng Conference in 1997 - before Mbeki became president of the ANC and the country. But 11 years later, Nzimande is still making a noise about Gear. He led a campaign to isolate Harry Gwala in the Natal Midlands. Gwala was subsequently suspended by the SACP, which Gwala had joined in 1940, before he joined the ANC in 1942.

During the Mbeki era, Nzimande was at the forefront of the onslaught on Mbeki. Now he has turned on the sober Motlanthe. Nzimande was nowhere during the height of the struggle in the 1970s and 1980s. Since he became SACP general-secretary, Nzimande has expelled Willie Madisha, Mazibuko Jara, Phillip Dexter and Harry Gwala.

Like Stalin, this communist leader is the opium of the masses.
