People of Port Elizabeth will continue to enjoy the soccer festivities today with two matches billed for EPRU Stadium in the Eastern Cape Soccer Challenge.
The tournament started on Tuesday when National First Division side Jomo Cosmos played to a goalless draw with Russian side FC Moscow, while Premiership side Bay United and Slovakian team MFK Kosice produced the same result in another match.
The tournament is the brainchild of the Eastern Cape department of economic development and environmental affairs, the Eastern Cape Tourism Board and Nelson Mandela Bay municipality.
Today FC Moscow will lock horns with MFK Kosice at 6pm while United will battle it out with Cosmos at 8.15pm at EPRU Stadium.
United may have an easy ride over Cosmos, whose boss Jomo Sono told Sowetan yesterday that he will use players who are not regulars in the side, considering that they have a tough league assignment against Black Leopards on Saturday.
Some of the midfielders like Papi Mngomezulu, Sibusiso Mapompo and Pikolomzi Noqazo are likely to cause trouble for United.
Vuyo Mvoko, United's spokesman said they would not compromise or undermine the tournament and as a result they would pin their hopes on the likes of regulars Teboho Moloi, David Twala and Maphelo Galada.
In the knockout stage that will be played next Tuesday, United will face FC Moscow on at 6pm while Cosmos will lock horns with Kosice.
The winners from both matches will meet in the final on Thursday, January 29, at the same venue.
