Mpumalanga Castle Regional League side Sasol Thistle Grove are hoping to be one of the eight teams from the Safa lower leagues that will qualify for the Nedbank Cup round of 32.

Each team that will participate in this round is guaranteed R100000.

Groove won the provincial round after beating Vodacom Promotional League side FC Spurs 2-1.

Now they will join the other eight provincial champions from Safa's lower leagues whose names will all be thrown in a hat. The first two names drawn will be pitted against each other. The winners will join the remaining seven teams to make it eight in total.

The eight clubs and a further eight from the National First Division will join the 16 clubs from the Absa Premiership in the round of 32.

"The boys are fired up and can't wait to see themselves pitted against their role models. Our wish and aim is to be pitted against a Premiership side and that will encourage us to do better," said Zakes Nhlabathi, coach and chairman of Thistle.

Other provincial champions are Blackburn Rovers (Eastern Cape) and Garankuwa United (North West). The rest of the provinces are expected to decide their champs this weekend.
