The two are Phil Masinga and Mark Fish, the World Cup ambassadors who once played in Italy.
Representatives of the embassy will be in Bloemfontein on January 26 to make friends with the Free Staters and teach them more about the country that won the 2006 World Cup.
Alberto Manai of the embassy's cultural affairs department said they were delighted that the schools in Free State have adopted Italy as the country they will support during the Confederations Cup in June.
"We are all aware that schools in various provinces have adopted teams participating in the Confederations Cup and it is a great honour that Free State were twinned with Italy during the draw in Nasrec last year," Manai said. "The aim is to get all the schools involved in the Confederations Cup.
"We will make a presentation to the schools in Free State about Italy and show them images of our country.
"We are delighted that two soccer greats, Mark and Phil, will also be with us. They will also conduct coaching clinics for the local youngsters as one of the legacy projects of the World Cup.
"We will also work with the Free State department of education and Local Organising Committee to distribute reading matter about Italy at all schools in the province."
Jermaine Craig, the LOC's media liaison officer, said they were looking forward to an exciting day in Bloemfontein.
