The nine 2010 World Cup host cities will unveil their posters for the tournament at a celebration in Bloemfontein on January 26, marking 500 days until kickoff.

Derek Carstens, the LOC's chief marketing officer, said: "We have been working hard to prepare for this great day. Representatives from all the World Cup host cities will be there to celebrate the day with all of us.

"We will also use the event in Bloemfontein to step up our marketing campaign to create increased awareness of the Confederations Cup and World Cup in South Africa and across the globe.

"The campaign will urge everybody in South Africa to get behind Bafana Bafana.

"Our message to South Africans who support Manchester United in England and in other countries in Europe is that they must also get behind the PSL [Premier Soccer League] clubs."

Carstens said South Africans must embrace local football, saying that they would use the event in the home of Siwelele to educate South Africans about buying soccer tickets early.

"Tickets for the Confederations Cup are on sale," he said. "Our people must go out and purchase them. We also urge people to come and join us in Bloemfontein when

we prepare for the first African World Cup."

The 1 000 days countdown celebrations took place in Phokeng last year.

Also on January 26 in Johannesburg, the LOC board of directors will meet to decide the fate of the three politicians who resigned from government. The trio are Sydney Mufamadi, Jabu Moleketi and Essop Pahad.
