After the torching of a waste removal truck at Jeffesville informal settlement at the weekend, Atteridgeville police in Pretoria are investigating a case of malicious damage to property .

Police spokesman Inspector Daniel Mavimbela said four waste collectors were also assaulted during the incident.

"According to information we have, the incident was sparked by disgruntled employees whose employment contracts were not renewed."
