A nine-year-old boy woke up and found the bodies of his parents covered in blood in their home in Polokwane, Limpopo.

The couple, who lived with their son and two younger children in the leafy suburb of Flora Park, was found with multiple stab wounds last Wednesday.

The woman was found with stab wounds and the man was hanging from the rafters, also with stab wounds.

Police have vowed to track down the killers.

Inspector Lesiba Ramoshaba said the woman was stabbed seven times and found in the dining room. The husband was stabbed 17 times and found hanging from the rafters in the kitchen.

Police recovered a knife they believe might have been used in the killings.

Ramoshaba said the son found the bodies and then called neighbours.

"The motive behind the killings is not yet known but we are working on sensitive information and hope to make a breakthrough soon," Ramoshaba said.

Meanwhile, police are searching for a 35-year-old man from Bolobedu after Maria Mohale was shot dead and her father-in-law, Sekgwari Malematsa was seriously wounded after being shot twice in the chest.

Police said attempts to find the suspect in the mountains at Mokwasele, where he was believed to be hiding, failed yesterday.
