Respected Absa Premiership referee Daniel Bennett says he is honoured and inspired by the continued confidence CAF has shown in him.

The popular whistle-blower has been assigned by the continental governing body to officiate in the highly anticipated CAF Super Cup final in Cairo, Egypt, on February 6.

Bennett said three of his colleagues who were also assigned to officiate at CAF matches found the appointments motivating and encouraging.

Bennett will call the shots in a match that pits African Champions League kings Al Ahly of Egypt against CAF Confederation Cup champs CF Sfaxien of Tunisia.

Bennett, a teacher at Mondeor Primary School in Johannesburg, will be assisted by Enoch Molefe and Toko Malebo.

Abdul Ebrahim, and not Yugesh Anjith as was reported on Monday, will be the fourth official in the Cairo event.

Ebrahim might still be on suspension when it comes to the Absa Premiership, but not CAF, and is therefore eligible to handle the continental matches.

Bennett kicks off his continental assignment in 2009 with the African Youth Championship, which started in Rwanda yesterday.

The tournament, which also features Serame "Rhee" Letsoaka's Amajita, ends on February 1.

"I officiated in this tournament in Benin in 2004 and it was a great feeling to be there. I'm now looking forward to being in Rwanda.

"It always gives me pleasure to work with the youngsters," said Bennett, who was expected to leave for Rwanda yesterday.

It will be the first time that he officiates in the Super Cup and he can't wait for the final.

"All of us will be making our debut in the Super Cup and we are preparing ourselves well for the challenges. I'm not nervous but excited," said Bennett, who has officiated in a number of CAF competitions.
