The strong support the South African national under-20 team has received during their training sessions for the African Youth Championship in Rwanda has given the technical staff confidence that they will beat Ivory Coast today.

Speaking to Sowetan yesterday from Rwanda, Amajita's assistant coach Maqsood Chenia said: "We could not believe it on Friday when more than 700 people came to watch us just training.

"We were able to identify three of Ivory Coast's dangerous players through the locals here because they [Ivory Coast] spent more than 11 days here playing a series of practice matches.

"Fortunately they know little about us."

He added that the boys were in top shape to win their first match of the tournament that started yesterday.

Amajita's next assignments in the group stage will be against Nigeria on Thursday and Egypt on Sunday.
