Parents kept pupils out of Doornlaagte Combined School yesterday in protest of the school's poor results last year.

On Wednesday, the parents disrupted learning by forcing pupils out of the school outside Zeerust, in North West, to join them in the demonstration.

They vowed that schooling would not continue until their demands for improved conditions at the school were met by North West MEC for Education Johannes Tselapedi.

The school made headlines after registering a 100 percent failure rate for its Grade 12 pupils last year.

The matriculants were among 241 pupils, including grade 10s and 11s, who failed their final examinations.

The school is marred by problems such as the lack of facilities such as a library and a store room.

There is also a shortage of teachers, especially for subjects such as accounting and mathematics.

Last year, matric pupils had no accounting teacher for three months after their teacher left the school.

"We were then taken to Mokgopong, but had to bring our mathematics teacher along because there was no maths teacher there.

"We also had to switch from accounting to geography at Mokgopong," said last year's matric pupil, Stephina Khutlelang.

The pupils' bumpy ride on their last year of schooling did not end there.

The North West department of education took them to another school in Modeville.
