Long-standing owner and board member Moga Pillay has been elected chairman of the KwaZulu-Natal Chapter of Gold Circle.

Pillay is well-known in local horse-racing circles as a successful businessman, racehorse owner and a board member.

He thanked outgoing chairman Michael Holmes and the previous board for their sterling work and said South African horse-racing was entering interesting and trying times.

However, he was looking forward to facing the challenges that lay ahead, with the support of his board.

He said he intended to adopt an open-door policy and that he was also looking forward to working closely with the chairman of the main board of Gold Circle.

The Western Cape Chapter elections have seen no changes with Ashraf Mohamed re-elected as chairman and Vidrik Thurling vice-chairman.
