The first phase of the auditions for popular Idols talent search competition has ended. The next phase starts in Johannesburg next month though organisers are not sure of the venue yet.

The Johannesburg leg of the competition drew 1477 entrants who auditioned for the popular reality TV series over three days. Out of these 28 were chosen. This is the group that will compete in the Top 100, which includes contestants from Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth.

Though the show was highly competitive this season, it also featured the craziest of characters who waited in line, hoping to get their few minutes of fame.

The competition will move into a theatre stage on February 1 at 5.30pm on MNet.
