coaches shame SA

What was really on the minds of the coaches of SuperSport United, Moroka Swallows and Ajax Cape Town for them to initially refuse permission for their players to join the national Under-20 squad?

What was really on the minds of the coaches of SuperSport United, Moroka Swallows and Ajax Cape Town for them to initially refuse permission for their players to join the national Under-20 squad?

Are they aware that this is the level where the likes of Benni McCarthy, Matthew Booth, Samuel Eto'o, Rio Ferdinand, Ronaldo, Maradona, Messi, Raul and many more were discovered?

Why allow the same players to play qualifying games, only to deny them the chance to reap what they worked hard for? Do you think these players will ever forgive their clubs for denying them such an opportunity?

Some players were not even regulars at their clubs before shining in the national colours and then becoming regulars at their teams. Do you think the clubs would have reacted the same if the coach were not a local black man?

Augusto Palacious didn't encounter any problems while coaching the under-20s though all his players were regulars at their clubs but Shakes Mashaba got the same raw deal Serame Letsoaka is getting.

PSL coaches must be aware that the Under-20 Youth Championship is the level where most players are discovered.

Unfortunately there is no rule that states that "clubs must release players for youth championships" and as long as such a rule doesn't exist we will always have this problem. But once again, Fifa authorities are to blame for this problem.

Yes, there is nothing in writing about these tournaments but the mean a lot to the players.
