Captain Alfred Nakana said yesterday the man had opened a hijacking case on New Year's Day.
He told police that armed men had hijacked him in Daveyton and dropped him in Germiston.
However, during preliminary investigations police determined that the taxi driver had been hired to transport passengers to Germiston on that day without informing his boss. He will appear in court soon. - Sapa
