Why on earth must I bother about resignations of officials, I did not even vote for? I will worry the day the principals of this sport, the boxers to be precise, threaten to stop fighting.
Some of us love the noble art of pugilism with a passion - not petty politics or the clash of personalities, if you want to call it that.
Rightly, the board should be dissolved because they can't make a quorum - with only three officials remaining.
But that will not happen because of a certain clause in Boxing SA Act of 2001. If sports minister, Makhenkesi Stofile persuades the three members who have resigned to stay on, will he reshuffle the board as the three have cited irreconcilable differences with chairman Peter Ngatane as a reason for their resignation?
Let us see how best Stofile handles this hot issue.
On behalf of boxing I want to say: "No individual is bigger than me (boxing). Boxers, trainers, managers, promoters and officials have come and gone but I am still standing tall, strong and looking pretty as I have always been".
