After a highly successful tour in 2007 the Australian opera group The Ten Tenors is due to visit South Africa again.
They start their local tour in Cape Town's Grand West Casino on March 28. On April 3 they will perform in the Big Top Arena at Carnival City Casino in Joburg.
Formed in 1995 by opera students from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in Brisbane, The Ten Tenors is a successful, youthful group that came on to the music scene in 1998 when the 10 singers decided to embark on a tour.
Their big break came in early 2002 when they were invited to perform in the German round of the Eurovision Song Contest.
So far the Ten Tenors have done 250 shows on various continents. They can switch gears mid-set between classic Italian opera arias such as Nessun Dorma from Puccini's Turandot and the Italian ballad standard to pop and rock tunes.
They deliver a mix of high-tone opera, jazz, modern and classic pop with stylized Los Vegas flair that charms the millions.
Having established themselves internationally, they have taken their passion for quality music and powerful singing to venues such as the Royal Albert Hall in s London, Sydney Opera House and The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
The group released its debut album titled Tenorissimo, in 1998, which was followed by Colours the following year.
They have also released big albums such as One is Not Enough, A Not So Silent Night, Larger than Life, Tenology, Here's to the Heroes and Nostalgica.
