Humble man who loved his family

Ishmael Thinane

It was on December 31, the last day of 2008, when Teboho Tsubeane passed on at the age of 43 years.

He died three days after his discharge from hospital, where he had spent 16 days after collapsing at home.

Tsubeane celebrated his birthday on December 5.

Medical doctors and his family thought he had beaten his ailment when they reunited with him looking quite healthy. Unbeknown to them, their pleasure was to be short-lived.

His pastors and fellow congregants were looking forward to welcoming the new year with him at the AME Church, Bonner Chapel, at White City Jabavu, Soweto, on the first Sunday of the year when he died.

He was married to Palesa Makgotso Tsubeane and were blessed with two sons.

A humble man, Tsubeane loved his family and they will sorely miss him.

He was a staunch Orlando Pirates Football Club supporter.

I am a Moroka Swallows fan, but we would joke about our teams' performance or lack of it. If Pirates beat Swallows, he would phone me day in and day out about his club's victory.

His death is a loss to the church, his community, family and friends.

He died at the time when he wanted to help the church to develop programmes to help the community.

He was always ready to offer a helping hand and was keen to see his computer company invest in the community.

The funeral will be held tomorrow at the AME Church in White City Jabavu from 8am.

The cortege will leave for Lenasia Cemetery at 10am.
