What is the most interesting aspect of your job?

Developing the business by the interaction with suppliers and the beauty advisors that ultimately interact with our customers. The most interesting aspect is that I am excited to receive the results of the business, with regards to sales, revamps of stores, marketing and feedback from anyone that I am in contact with.

Have you always been interested and, or involved in the beauty industry?

I have always loved using cosmetics from an early age, so this was the perfect industry for me to join. I have been in the cosmetics industry for 29 years. Initially, I worked for two major cosmetics suppliers. Stuttafords approached me in 2006 to become the general manager of cosmetics. This involved buying products, marketing the promotions, communicating and negotiating with suppliers.

Do you ever have to travel for your job?

I travel to Cape Town and Durban on a regular basis and overseas on occasions.

What is the worst part of your job?

I love every aspect of the cosmetics industry and working for Stuttafords. It's exciting as there are so many facets of the job and that there is never a dull moment.

What are the perks of your job?

It's great to be part of a brand that launches skincare, make-up and fragrances.

Being a people's person who is outgoing and confident.

Does your personal taste come into play when you buy the products?

We buy to meet our customers' requirements, although I do have my own favourite products.

We stock locally produced products in our bath and body shop.

What has been your worst experience as a Buyer?

Having unsatisfied customers.

What are five tips you would give to women who want to revamp their summer cosmetics collection?

1. Use bronzers and self tanners to give you a beautiful summer glow.

2. Buy coral or pink nail polish and lip gloss to lift your spirits.

3. Use tinted moisturiser rather than heavy foundation during summer.

4. Visit your favourite brand to obtain the latest trends in make-up, most brands have a summer collection of products.

5. Opt for a lighter version of your favourite fragrance (EDT rather than EDP)
