Former Muvhango actress Khabonina Qubheka has landed a glamourous role as the new girl poised to shine in e.tv soapie Rhythm City.

It's been a good few months for the actress who recently also made news by landing an equally interesting role in the SABC3 drama series The Lab. Shehas also just launched a dance gear range, Khabodacious. She is a trained choreographer and dancer who previously had a role in the Richard Loring production African Footprint.

Apart from Muvhango on SABC2, Qubheka also acted in For Sale on SABC3. Studying for a bachelor of communications with the University of South Africa, she is also a motivational speaker.

In Rhythm City, she will be playing the role of a city-slick babe who leaves an impression on ex-thug and Kilowatt owner Suffocate, played by Mduduzi Mabaso. "She has a very smooth exterior but is not as smooth as people think. She will bring a series of confusing events to the humble, laid-back barman," says e.tv.

An excited Qubheka told Sowetan yesterday that things have never been so good for her in terms of business. "I am playing the role of Khanyi, who runs an events management company. Educated, classy and quite calculative, she is a Model C type of a businesswoman who dates older men just for the sake of getting business. She works both with local and overseas clients, taking them to good places locally.

"It is so good to know that I am appearing in two shows, The Lab and Rhythm City, while at the same time I am busy building up my business on the side," she said.

The actress, however, strongly denies that in real life there is a striking resemblance between this Bedfordview, east of Johannesburg, resident and Khanyi.

"Never! Never! Never! The only resemblance between me and Khanyi is that we are both hard workers and that is all," she said.

Qubheka's character will start appearing on Rhythm City from next week.
