Bloemfontein Celtic chief executive Ikie Augousti and the side's new co-owner, Professor Itumeleng Mosala, yesterday expressed elation after they concluded a co-operation agreement with Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon.

The deal was signed and sealed amid bliss in Lisbon. The ceremony was attended by all members of the Sporting board and a horde of journalists.

The deal encompasses an exchange programme between the two clubs and the building of an academy in Bloemfontein to benefit players from both sides.

Augousti said the construction was likely to begin in August, and that the academy would be opened in January next year.

"We are all excited that we have finally signed the deal and we are looking forward a happy and fruitful marriage with Lisbon," said Augousti shortly after the event.
