There are only 12 days left before the new school term starts and the education department says it is ready.
The department's Lunga Ngqengelele said: "We are ready for the new school year.
"Before schools closed for the December holidays provinces promised that stationery would be available when they reopen. They only reported minor glitches."
He said teaching would hopefully start on the first day of school.
"Minister od Education Naledi Pandor will visit schools in the first week to ensure that all is in order."
Ngqengelele said they did not anticipate large numbers of parents showing up to register their children for school.
The first school term starts on January 14.
