For Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Surprise Moriri, their match on Sunday against arch rivals Kaizer Chiefs is crucial because of their positions in the league table.
Sundowns are ninth in the Absa Premiership - they had a dismal run in the first 14 matches of the season, with five wins, five losses and four draws - while Chiefs are not much better off at seventh spot.
Moriri reckons the losses against Moroka Swallows, Platinum Stars and Ajax Cape Town are water under the bridge and that the whole team is looking forward to making amends.
"This will be a tough and interesting match because of both teams' bad position on the log. As far as not getting the desired results, had I known what was wrong with us last year, I would have done something to fix it. But it is over, and now we have to start on a clean slate and are ready to work," said Moriri.
As for Downs playing their home match at Johannesburg Stadium - a Chiefs haunt - the midfielder thinks Amakhosi have home ground advantage everywhere, anyway.
Sundowns have also had to deal with defender Mbulelo "OJ" Mabizela's antics, the latest being his failure to report for work after the Christmas break.
Chiefs have also had more bad days than good ones, and it will be fascinating to see how the rest of Muhsin Ertugral's charges respond to the acquisition of former Lamontville Golden Arrows midfielder Abia Nale, who joined the Naturena outfit last week.
