The showdown between the two stars - after their sensational performances in the Durban July - is now set to take place at the end of the month in the J&B Met.
If Pocket Power can complete the Western Cape "treble" he will qualify to rank as the greatest horse to race in the country and, as there are no plans at this stage for the gelding to embark on an international career, he could again line up in the Vodacom Durban July later in the season and a win would confirm that status.
The gelding was bred at the Zandvliet Stud out of the Prince Florimund mare Stormsvlei and boasts a record of 13 wins and 10 places from 26 starts with stake earnings amounting to R5709790. This record also includes back-to-back wins in the Ocean Basket Green Point Stakes over 1600m.
His most recent run was in the Diadem Stakes, a weight-for-age event over 1200m, where he moved up late on the leaders to finish a comfortable second.
