Trendsetters make fashion their passion

All year long we've watched their style grow and create fashionable looks and trends. Sure, most celebrities have stylists who keep them looking fresh, but we should commend those who don't prompt us to make an emergency call to the fashion police.

All year long we've watched their style grow and create fashionable looks and trends. Sure, most celebrities have stylists who keep them looking fresh, but we should commend those who don't prompt us to make an emergency call to the fashion police.

So her is our glance at who we think stopped the show with their look in 2008.

lNonhle Thema, with her bright smile and angelic face, always looked like a living doll.

The breathtakingly gorgeous presenter gave new meaning to the word showstopper when she was an MC at big events or attended big parties. She wore clothes that oozed glamour and sex appeal.

lSalamina Mphelo, or should I call her Mrs Howza Mosese, we salute you! You have a cute face and a great sense of style!

At every party you looked like a goddess. And I must say you decorated Howza.

lNhlanhla Nciza's rare style made us forget about her stinking attitude. As if her much-copied sunglasses weren't enough to earn her a spot on this list, she hit all the right notes in her sophisticated mix of glamorous funky dresses.

She really knows how to straddle the line between old world glamour and the cool-chic infused style.

lCat fights aside, Palesa Mocuminyane has had a good hair year. She should make an effort to reconcile with her hair stylist be cause she made her look greaaaaaat.

lUyanda Mbuli made the red carpet her personal ramp this year. It was undeniably her year. From a sunny yellow cocktail frock to gorgeous flowing gowns - you have been scorching hot, girl.

lEven while Penny Lebyane was pregnant the new mother was still dressed to the hilt in designer gowns and creations that made everyone stop and stare when she entered an affair decked out in a one-of-a-kind designs.

lThere's nothing's more adorable than a cute baby in white.

Walter Mokoana's daughter Thandolwethu captured hearts when she appeared on the cover of Drum magazine earlier this year. Walter, you have a little style goddess in Thandolwethu.

lTerry Pheto made headlines for her relationship with DJ Sbu but she made enough of an impression on red carpets with her simple, sexy style. She had a good skin year too!

lArthur Mafokate looked good in anything. He proved that simple can be chic with the classic jeans-and-jacket look. I must say, his good personality and beautiful smile were a plus.

lThough DJ Sbu hasn't exactly been a style icon for years, even his wardrobe made a comeback this year.

lAubrey Sekhabi, artistic director of the State Theatre, knows a thing or two about fashion trends. He always looked good in his suits and his well-kept dreadlocks.

He is an unsung hunk.

lWhat would my list be without SABC1 boss Ray Nkwe? He really looked good most of the time, though he kept a very low profile.

I can't wait to bring you all the red carpet action of 2009, especially during the Audi Joburg Fashion Week that will take place from January 21 to 24.

I look forward to seeing you all dressed to the nines.
