Witbank Spurs director Themba Mafu yesterday said they have forgiven Tebogo Mashaba after he went AWOL for three days early this month.

Mashaba, one of the gifted yet underrated linksmen in local soccer, joined Spurs in November as a free agent from Orlando Pirates.

"Tebogo is back and he trained with the rest of the players on Monday," said Mafu, who doubles as a member of the side's technical team.

"We have forgiven him. He did phone us after his disappearance but we were not happy with the way he handled himself. We are now fully focused on the new year and we hope we will succeed in the First Division."

Mashaba couldn't be reached for comment at the time of going to print.

Spurs who are in position six are not expected to reach the national playoffs of the NFD at the end of the season, thanks to their patchy run this term.
