Allan Boesak has no scruples

Not long after Allan Boesak resigned from all the positions at his church, he announced that he was going to form a civil rights movement to guard the interests of downtrodden South Africans.

Not long after Allan Boesak resigned from all the positions at his church, he announced that he was going to form a civil rights movement to guard the interests of downtrodden South Africans.

The movement was hailed by some opposition parties and people of high standing like Bishop Tutu as an intervention to neutralise the ANC's monopoly and might.

When asked if he would Shikota, he said he did not "understand what effect and impact of that thing called Shikota" would have in politics and would not "join either the ANC or Shikota".

But behind the scenes the former convicted fraudster, who served his term for improperly enriching himself with money for an NGO for poor people, was lobbying both parties. He demanded an ambassadorial post at the UN, which fortunately the ANC rejected.

The desperate Cope promised him the Western Cape premiership. He accepted. But he was convicted of a criminal offence and is not eligible. He could help himself to public funds reserved for the poor again.

Where do his political convictions lie? Are they sold to the highest bidder?

People like him are political prostitutes. Above all, he is a politically-spent cartridge and useless to our political challenges.
