Rhoo back home in time to spend Xmas with his family

Lucas Radebe has been discharged from the Sunninghill Hospital where he underwent minor surgery on Saturday, his manager has said.

Glyn Binkin said yesterday that the former Bafana Bafana and Leeds United captain was discharged yesterday morning and was recovering at home.

"He is fine and the doctors have advised him to rest," Binkin said. "He's now at home and pleased that he'll be able to spend Christmas with his family and children."

He disputed weekend reports that Radebe underwent open heart surgery, saying it was just a "minor medical procedure following complications with his heart".

Radebe, pictured, whose wife Feziwe died of cancer in October, was initially admitted to the Morningside Clinic in Sandton after he collapsed while exercising at the Virgin Active Gym in the area last Wednesday.

He was however "released on Thursday evening and readmitted at Sunninghill on Friday ahead of the surgery on Saturday".

Binkin conveyed Radebe's message of gratitude, saying he was "thankful to all who supported him".

"It's been a very frightening experience but he thanks everyone for the support . for the well wishes and messages he received in the past few days," Binkin said. - Sapa
